Located along the stunning coastal road that winds from the Fethiye city center toward the Oyuktepe Peninsula (reaching toward Paçarız Cape), the Samanlık Bays are two sister coves where pine trees cast their shadows over turquoise waters. Due to their unique geographical structure, they are fully sheltered from the wind. This makes them a tranquil sanctuary—the perfect escape when the sea at Ölüdeniz is choppy or when the winds in Çalış become too strong. They are among the most authentic, intimate spots in Fethiye, where the classic picnic and seaside culture lives on and green truly embraces blue.
Location & Transport Tips

Distance: Located just 5–6 km from Fethiye City Center (the Promenade/Harbor). You will first reach Küçük Samanlık (Small Samanlık), followed by Büyük Samanlık (Big Samanlık) about 1 km later.

Public Transport: You can easily and affordably reach both coves by taking the "Yarımada / Aksazlar - Şövalye - Samanlık" minibuses (dolmuş) departing from Fethiye city center; they will drop you right at the entrance.

Alternative Transport: Being so close to the center, this route is also a delight for adventure seekers who enjoy renting bicycles or those who prefer starting a scenic walk from the harbor (Kordon).
Facilities, Services & Pricing
As the Samanlık Bays are managed as recreational areas by or under the supervision of the Fethiye Municipality, they offer a nature- and family-oriented experience, free from unnecessary luxury or ostentation.

Entry & Public Areas: Entrance to the recreational and beach areas is subject to a very reasonable municipal fee (or a vehicle entry fee). The area includes showers, changing cabins, restrooms, and fresh water fountains.

Sunbeds & Comfort: You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds from the on-site operator at affordable prices. However, the true soul of this place lies beneath the pines! Bringing your own folding chair or hammock and setting up in the shade of the trees for free is the ultimate local experience.

Parking: Spacious, shaded parking areas tucked among the trees are available for those arriving by car.

Food & Drinks: There are municipality-supported kiosks/cafes within the bays where you can find hot and cold beverages, fast food, toasted sandwiches, and gözleme (Turkish flatbread). Top Local Tip: This is one of the few bays in Fethiye where controlled picnicking and barbecuing are permitted. Wooden picnic tables are available, and you are welcome to bring your own meat, appetizers, and picnic baskets.

The Sea: Both coves feature pebbly shores (bringing water shoes is highly recommended). The water does not deepen abruptly; it is shallow and calm. This makes it one of the safest swimming spots in Fethiye for children and non-swimmers.

As the Samanlık Bays hold the status of a forest recreational area, barbecuing is permitted only in designated zones and during specified hours to prevent fire hazards.
