Aquarium Bay

A Living Aquarium Beneath the Surface

We begin with a natural wonder that truly lives up to its name. Akvaryum Koyu is that rare spot in the Fethiye and Ölüdeniz area where, as soon as you put on your goggles and look into the water, you feel as though you are swimming inside a giant, natural aquarium. The water is so extraordinarily clear and glass-like that you can watch pebbles, starfish, and colorful schools of fish meters below the surface even with the naked eye from the boat. Hidden between two rocky headlands, its sheltered structure makes it one of the most iconic and essential swimming stops on any "Blue Cruise."

Location & Transport Tips

  • Access: There is absolutely no road access to this bay. Protected by steep cliffs, it can only be reached by sea.

  • Boat Tour Routes: This bay is a fixed and most popular swimming stop for the daily Ölüdeniz boat tours (whether you choose the large, fun pirate-themed boats or the calmer, traditional wooden ones) that depart from Ölüdeniz Belcekız Beach every morning. You can also enjoy these crystal waters in a more isolated way by renting a private boat from Ölüdeniz. (Note: The "12 Islands" boat tours departing from Fethiye city center do not visit this route; this area is specifically covered by boats departing from Ölüdeniz).

Facilities, Pristine Nature & The Sea

To preserve its untouched beauty, Akvaryum Koyu is a completely pristine protected area where no construction of any kind is permitted.

  • Facilities: There are no sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, restrooms, or cafes/restaurants in the bay. You must meet all your basic needs, including food and drinks, from the tour boat you arrive on or your own private vessel.

  • The Sea: The seabed is covered entirely with white sand and large pebbles. Since there is no mud or clay to cloud the water, the level of clarity is at its peak in every season. The water temperature is similar to the rest of Ölüdeniz—warm, refreshing, and invigorating for a swim.

  • "Escapes Go" Activity Tip: When coming here, you absolutely must bring a high-quality diving mask, snorkel, and fins. Exploring the fish nests hidden along the base of the rocks and taking underwater photos are the greatest pleasures of this spot.

 "Escapes Go" Captain’s Note

Akvaryum Koyu is a hub that gets very busy with daily tours around midday. If you want to experience this place in total silence—listening only to the sounds of birds and waves—the best local tip is to reach the bay early in the morning via a private boat or zodiac departing from Ölüdeniz before the tour crowds arrive.
