We are at Kabak Bay, a world-renowned sanctuary for backpacker culture that gracefully disconnects from the outside world. Nestled at the foothills of Mount Babadağ and surrounded on three sides by deep ravines and steep canyon walls, this bay is Fethiye’s most authentic geography. With its endemic flora diversity, babbling brooks, and architecture built entirely of wood, it is more than just a beach for swimming; it is a philosophy of life—from yoga retreats and glamping culture to digital detoxing in the heart of nature and sleeping under the stars.
Location & Transport Ritual (Be Ready for Adventure!)

Distance: Approximately 30–33 km from Fethiye city center and 17 km from Ölüdeniz. It is located right at the edge of Faralya village.

The Final Stop on the Hill: Minibuses (dolmuş) departing from Fethiye center to Faralya/Kabak will bring you directly to the main junction at the top of the bay. If you are arriving in your own vehicle, the safest bet is to leave your car in the parking areas at the top.

The Adventurous Descent: The road leading from the hill to the beach is so steep, winding, and unpaved that it is strictly impossible for standard passenger cars or tour buses to go down. You have two options: either put on your backpack and hike down the steep forest path for about 30–40 minutes, or hop into a local 4x4 off-road shuttle waiting at the top for an adrenaline-fueled, adventurous ride to the shore.
Facilities, Nature Culture & The Character of the Sea
Thanks to its status as a protected area, Kabak Bay has remained completely free from mass tourism and concrete development. All businesses within consist of treehouses, bungalows, and tents.

Facilities & Accommodation: You won't find large resort hotels or beach clubs lined with rows of sunbeds here. Accommodations are generally boutique bungalows and luxury tents (glamping) hidden along the canyon slopes, offering magnificent views. Along the shore, you will find rustic, intimate wooden cafes where you can meet basic needs, grab some gözleme, or enjoy a cold drink.

The Character of the Sea: Kabak’s sea faces the open Mediterranean. The water is among the cleanest and clearest in the region, but also one of the most spirited. The shore and seabed consist of a mix of large white stones, sand, and pebbles. It is generally slightly wavy and lively. This is a paradise for those who love playing with waves and feeling the energetic nature of the water; however, it requires caution for families with children and beginner swimmers.

Canyon Exploration & Hidden Waterfall: Kabak is not just about the beach. By following the path that leads from behind the beach up into the canyon, shaded by sweetgum and pine trees, you can reach the "Hidden Waterfall" (Aladere Waterfall) in about 30–40 minutes, which pours from between the mountains and forms small, ice-cold freshwater pools beneath it.

When coming to Kabak Bay, definitely prefer a backpack over a suitcase; dragging a wheeled suitcase on those steep paths and dirt roads will turn into a real struggle. Also, don’t forget to bring water shoes to walk comfortably on the large stones on the beach and to maintain your balance in the wavy sea.
